An international and nonprofit organization, The Wishing Shelf Book Awards focus on reviewing, rewarding and promoting independent publishers and authors.

Working out of the United Kingdom and Sweden, an author runs the program. As a children’s author, he signs his books Billy Bob Buttons. Writing for adults, he uses the pen name Hickory Crowl.

Students preschool through high school judge the children’s books and YA fiction based on the book’s target age range.

Adult reading groups in London and Stockholm critique the entries from adults.

Award entrants receive a book review and promotion through general press releases, reading groups on Goodreads and Facebook, bloggers, and relevant websites. All entrants must send a query with their submission. Anything objectionable or lacking a decent edit gets rejected outright.

The Wishing Shelf Book Awards is a member of the Alliance of Independent Authors and the Independent Book Publishing Professionals Group.
