Where Does the Money Go?

Many people around the world give money to many different organizations and programs. The one thing people ask is usually… where does the money go? We have seen the high dollar salaries of some of these foundations like St. Jude, the Alzheimer’s Association, and United Way Worldwide. We are all adults; we know that people have to get paid to keep corporations and organizations running. That being said, Girl Scouts aren’t supposed to be coming up with miracle cures for children and taking multi-million-dollar salaries. Their salaries are reasonable considering the work hours and technological support they now put into it. In addition to the paid positions, they have the costs of the programs, retreats, property holdings for the children; not to mention college scholarships and the rewards they give to the girls.

What about The Girl Scouts? Where does it all go? Below is a breakdown, or as they put it, how the cookie crumbles.

A Brief Girl Scout History

Juliette Gordon Low (1860 – 1927) was the founder of The Girl Scouts in 1912 after a meeting with Sir Robert Baden-Powell who was the founder of The Boy Scouts. This was a changing point for Low. She was inspired by Baden-Powell and a year later she began The Girl Scouts.

Low envisioned a movement for all girls to embrace their unique strengths and passions. It was a simple goal that they still achieve to this day. The Girl Scouts cultivate strong, confident, and goal-oriented girls and urge them to reach for the stars. Something we can all get behind.
