Rush Limbaugh: Not a Nice Epitaph

by: Kidman J. Williams

You don’t forget the people that make your skin crawl with a simple handshake. I met Rush Limbaugh back in 2010 while working for WLS Radio in Chicago. Unfortunately, I remember it like it was yesterday. He was boastful, loud, and his big round belly sloshed around with the denial of the mass amounts of pills he had swallowed.

He waddled around like a penguin on a right-wing acid trip. His jowls fluttered in a way that seemed independent from the rest of his body while he decried conservative liberty for all… unless you liked Obama or sympathized with rape victims.

In the few short moments after meeting this abomination, I understood who he was and what he was about. His sleaze left a snail trail down the hallways of the building. This was not a man who cared for human beings or our political system and yet he was far more dangerous than any senator. Those that followed him gobbled his rhetoric like it was Bible.

This man was nothing more than a political entertainer who prayed at the alter of the all mighty American dollar. He was a pignut of the highest degree.

Limbaugh was a man who sympathetically called HIV/Aids, “The Rock Hudson Disease.”

Limbaugh’s arch enemy, Sandra Fluke. This was a pinnacle moment in his career. Fluke was pushing and making a case for religious institutions like Georgetown to provide contraception to students. Limbaugh took it upon himself to go after Fluke. One of many quotes from Limbaugh stated that, “It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex.”

This is where he got real nasty. He saw some forward momentum. So like the good little boy he was he decided to go even further by telling the women how they could repay him for the birth control. Limbaugh said that they should all post videos of them having sex “online so we can all watch.”

It wasn’t until he started seeing his advertisers disappearing that the great humanitarian decided to issue a lackluster apology stating, “In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.”

Besides all his women hating, Limbaugh even attacked Michael J. Fox, stating that Fox was exaggerating the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease to further stem cell research.

Limbaugh helped usher in the social/political hellscape that we see today. The dividing of this country was helped by political entertainers like Limbaugh and Glenn Beck while they laughed their way to the bank. According to Google, Limbaugh’s estimated net worth had soared to $500 million by the time of his death.

This man that I met so many years ago made a career on bullying the downtrodden, destroying women, and perpetuating racial stereotypes on a national stage. Limbaugh once told a black caller that he was having a problem understanding them and to “take the bone out of your nose and call me back.”

Limbaugh was so eager to please his pathetic audience once that he said, “the NFL all to often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without weapons.” He liked that insult a lot because he used the same one to describe the NBA and their “gang color” uniforms.

This is the man that former President Donald Trump deemed worthy to award the Presidential Medal of Freedom back in February of 2020. An award that had been given to the likes of author John Steinbeck (1964), the legendary Bob Hope (1969), Lucille Ball (1989) and even the great Muhammad Ali (2005). Then Trump hands it over to a racist, bigoted, pill loving, infectious joithead!

Rush Limbaugh was an interesting man and a usual suspect in a crooked world.

My Mother always said to not speak ill of the dead, well my Mother never met Rush Limbaugh.
