Mark Linnhoefer – On Friday, Michigan State Police Trooper Chad Wolf was hit by a car that then dragged him along for several miles. He died a few hours after the incident.
The driver, a 72-year old man, said he did not even realize he had hit somebody until he pulled up at a rest area. The man is reportedly fully cooperating with the authorities.
The accident happened at about 6:30 pm local time when Wolf was on his motorcycle on a highway. The driver attempted a lane change and while doing so hit the Trooper. According to the police, Wolf was then dragged for miles.
Police Director Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue issued a statement saying that “[the] troopers know the dangers they face each time they put on their uniform”, but that “the calling they feel to serve the public is stronger than any fear”.
Chad Wolf has been working for the police for six years and was a father of four. The police issued a statement saying that he was an “outstanding public servant”. The Police Director said that he will “forever be remembered”.
