Gonzo Today’s official Facebook page has been hacked and Meta seems to be giving us a hose job that you only see in reality competition TV shows and gay porn. I have personally reached out to the Facebook teams four times now without a reply. At least the electric company gives you an illusion that they care by sending a recording saying that we are a valued customer and asks us to wait patiently for the next available customer service rep.
This is not our first time tangling with Meta and their team of vultures. We have had several posts begin to go viral. There was one post in particular that rose over the 120K mark. We watched as the numbers just stopped! It seemed that Facebook capped our post. There wasn’t even a small trickle after that. The numbers just stopped growing.
I had written a not so flattering piece called, “The Biden” that was posted to our Facebook fan page that the organization claimed went against community standards. Now we have Zuckerberg on record about Facebook’s involvement in these political leaning practices.
Did Facebook squelch us and enjoy it, the evidence would point to yes.
Our owner, Kyle K. Mann was hacked. This seems to be how the hacker was able to gain control of our beloved flagship fan page. We had five admins for the page and all of us were kicked off, it seems like I’m the only one that has been blocked entirely. The others can still see the page. I was the only one that put in several requests to Facebook to be reinstated. At the time of writing this article, four to be exact.
I’m not saying that this is a strike against our First Amendment rights, I’m not declaring that Facebook had anything to do with an attack on us as a part of the independent media; I’m saying that they indirectly did.
Facebook may not have taken control of our fan page. What they are doing is enabling the hacker, who is from Vietnam.
Where do we go from here as a part of the independent media? We do still have our group of very important people, though the numbers and reach of the group are significantly less than the flagship Facebook fan page that had over 20,000 followers.
What I can tell you is that we will continue to get to the bottom of this incident. We will do everything in our power to regain control of our page. I will continue to attempt to get in touch with the Facebook teams. This is our property and by not fixing this hacking issue, Facebook are a part of the problem.
In the meantime, we will be having to use our group in order to give you new material, and with a Trump and Trumplican government, I’m sure there will be plenty of new material served up to us on a golden platter with gaudy turquoise and platinum inlays.
