Mark Linnhoefer – Johnny Depp talked about the dog-smuggling drama from this summer on The Jimmy Kimmel Show, joking about assaulting the Australian Minister of Agriculture if he throws his wife in jail.
The whole drama began this summer when Depp and his wife – Amber Heard – were in Australia to shoot a movie and brought their two dogs, who, according to Australian customs, did not have the proper papers and bypassed quarantine. Depp says that he thought that they “had all the paperwork done for the dogs.” He also said that “there might have been other things smuggled”, whatever that’s supposed to mean.
The Australian customs are not taking the thing with as much humor, and Depp’s wife might be facing a prison sentence of ten years and an enormous fine for the smuggling. Depp said that if the Australians actually imprison his wife over this, he might “just fly to Australia and assault that man” so he could join his wife in prison. He also bashes the Australian Minister of Agriculture who made some snide comments on Depp’s dogs, saying that he is a “weird, sweaty-plated gut man” and ridiculing the Minister’s concern about “two 5, 6-inch teacup Yorkshire terriers”.
No final judging has been made yet, and it has not yet been determined if Depp was actually missing the proper paperwork or not, but the Pirates of the Caribbean star is certainly very laid-back about the whole thing. Let’s hope that his wife is, too.
