Kidman J. Williams – The House lawsuit against President Obama that started as a joke may in fact come to a cataclysmic reality. The lawsuit comes from the GOP lawmakers who have been complaining about Executive Branch overreach.
A federal judge is expected to decide soon on whether the case has a leg to stand on or if it should just be dismissed. Now because of a recent Supreme Court ruling, the Republicans’ case against Obama might have a lot more pull than it did before. The Republicans first filed last summer.
The Republicans originally accused Obama of overstepping his power when he delayed an implementation deadline that was in the Affordable Care Act.
The “power of the purse” is what they are riding on right now. The lawsuit is proposing that Obama’s top aides claimed the power to spend $178 billion over the next decade in order to reimburse health insurers to cover the cost of co-payments for low income people who have insurance under Obamacare (Affordable Care Act).
Nobody is really sure if anything will come of this lawsuit. Everybody on their respective sides claims what you might think. Democrats claim nothing will come of it and the Republicans are gung-ho on the idea that they can do it. Either way the Affordable Care Act won’t be revoked if it does go to court and they win. The Right might like to think it will.
There is one huge problem with this debacle. If this in fact does go to court, what will become of our government? This could open the door to many more lawsuits anytime the Left has a problem with the Right and vice versa.
If the Supreme Court still has a shred of common sense this whole thing will be thrown out of their office like Nixon.
