Chicago, IL. – The Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup, clinching the teams deserving title as a dynasty in an exciting game 6 win at the United Center. Duncan Keith claimed the Conn Smythe trophy as the playoffs MVP.
Period 1 saw the Tampa Bay Lightning and Chicago at a standoff with a score of 0 – 0. The play was hard hitting and full of the usual checks, poke checks and exciting saves from both goalies, Corey Crawford and Ben Bishop.
The 2nd period ended with an amazing goal by Duncan Keith. The important pass from Kane gave Keith the opportunity to shoot the puck and pick up his own rebound off the pads of Bishop giving the Hawks a 1 – 0 lead at the end of the 2nd.
The 3rd period brought a fiery intensity from the Lightning who was ready to bring a bit of that thunder to Chicago. As the severe weather stormed through the Chicagoland area the Hawks showed that they can sore through any kind of storm when Patrick Kane shot the insurance goal giving them the 2 – 0 lead and the win in game 6; the first time the Chicago Blackhawks have won the cup on home ice since 1938 and the first time at The United Center.
