The mayor of Chicago fired his police Superintendant yesterday after allegations of a cover-up surfaced regarding the police murder of Laquan McDonald, a 17 year old black teen who was shot 16 times while walking away from officers. The mayor threw Superintendant Garry McCarthy under the bus shortly after police dash cam video (which was mysteriously missing audio) was released to the public for a murder that took place 13 months ago. There are allegations that Rahm Emanuel, Chicago’s mayor, may have withheld the video during a crucial mayoral run-off in 2014.
The facts are obvious to a one eyed duck. The video shows Laquan walking away from officers and then being shot by Jason Van Dyke, a policeman with 20 civilian complaints majoring in unnecessary use of force. At the risk of being overly judgmental, I can honestly say that in his mug shot he looks a lot like a fellow who has not only ever had an original idea in his life but also appears to be heavily medicated. Van Dyke posted a million and a half dollars bail – made possible in part to the police themselves. His lawyer, who looks like a matrimonial director, has stated that his client is innocent and was in fear for his life (from a kid on PCP who was walking away from him with a 3” knife). Why Van Dyke didn’t use his taser is beyond me and probably more so beyond him. This lunk headed s.o.b. felt so empowered by his position, so hate filled, so brainwashed by propaganda and police culture that regardless of other officers being present and with full knowledge of the dash cam video he still chose to shoot Laquan McDonald.
And if all that crap isn’t enough there is missing video from an outdoor camera at a nearby Burger King – 1 ½ hours. Employees said they had never experienced any problems before police spent “hours” in their office.
After the dash cam video was released protests ensued and there were disruptions at major retailers on Black Friday. There are calls for that rat bastard the mayor to step down. The F.B.I. should step in as the truth is so blatant or at the least a special prosecutor. I don’t think there was much of a cover-up; just a firm, cold, and equally fascist manipulation of the facts that plays to a populace living in fear. Laquan McDonald’s family received a $5,000,000 settlement from the city of Chicago not long after his death. Hush money – no doubt – and the family has asked for their privacy and released a statement wishing no harm to anybody and hoping the same for others.
