Kidman J. Williams – John Lydon, better known to fans as Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols has a new album coming out with his band PiL.  The new album, “What the World Needs Now” will be released on September 4, 2015.  The 10” vinyl will hit on August 21, 2015.

If you aren’t familiar with Public Image Ltd (PiL) you probably should get to know them.  John Lydon formed PiL after the Sex Pistols in 1978.  The post-punk band has been a revolving door of members since its formation, with Johnny Rotten being the only real constant.

Through the years PiL has had some serious credentials.  The band has had 5 UK top 20 singles and 5 Albums in the UK Top 20.  The band went until 1992 and then Lydon brought the band back from the ashes in 2009 to do PiL’s 2012 album “This Is PiL.

In a recent interview with ClassicRock.TeamRock.com Lydon talked about some television ads he did for Country Life Butter back in 2008.  Lydon went on in true Johnny Rotten fashion saying:

“I got so much flak for those TV ads.  None of these chaps, including Iggy (Pop), get the criticism that I do.  I was hated.  Sell-out!  Well, fuck off!  Who else was fucking helping me, money-wise?  Quite frankly, take a look at my body size.  I think you can tell I eat a lot of butter.  It’s not like I was advertising sanitary napkins.”

John Lydon, no matter the age, will always be Johnny Rotten at the core.

Band members: John Lydon (vocals), Lu Edmonds (guitar), Bruce Smith (drums), Scott Firth (bass)
