“Little Did I Know”

Little did I know

A young man trying to grow

Lost in the woods

Blowing in the wind

Never in the right direction

Will I ever be back again

On display in a window

Played my last hand

Smoked the last cigarette

Fought all the wars

Slept with all the whores

Loneliness turned into family

Destroyed what was left

Can’t see through the dark

Poison down the drain

Just to get through the day

Thinking back again

Couldn’t seem to make a change

Now I’m left with loose change

A heart as hard as a rock

Pull down the shades for today

Do I even live for myself

Or just for someone else

Sitting here, smoke filled room and booze

Contemplating my next move

Only things that are rolled or poured

Seem to bring joy to this old soul

Could things have been different

I will never know

Last stretch of the ride

Little did I know
