I worked for 20 years to get the City of Louisville to honor my friend Hunter S. Thompson in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
It finally happened. GonzoFest 2014 was 6 days 6 nights 17 venues, early April, This was the 4th GonzoFest I helped produce with my longtime friend Dennie Humphrey, owner of The Monkey Wrench, Gonzo Headquarters.
The City of Louisville came on board for GonzoFest 2014. Mayor Greg Fischer presented me with an official proclamation renaming Louisville to Hunter’s Gonzoville.
Ralph Steadman sent me 38 images, art and photographs, of Hunter. The GonzoFest Team selected the most historic portrait for the giant Hunter’s Gonzoville banner we unveiled on the 6th and final day of GonzoFest 2014. Ralph Steadman did all the art. He’s agreed to create the GonzoFest 2015 logo for us.
Here’s a shot, by Jinn Bug (see her amazing work on her facebook page), of Ralph’s and Jinn’s Hunter’s Gonzoville art:
