DR-DUNDIFF

Don’t miss Dr. Dundiff, Touch A.C. & the Smoke Shop Kids at GonzoFest in Louisville, KY this Saturday, April 16th. The 3 collaborating artists all hail from the River City. Dr. Dundiff is a producer, DJ & rapper that released a new album in in December titled WYAVHCANY. Dr. Dundiff’s Bandcamp Page. Roman “Dr. Dundiff” Aprile describes his work as a multi-sample-based fusion of hip-hop, jazz and soul. Dundiff often enlists the talents of a variety of emcees. Guest artists on his last album included Shadowpact, Touch A.C., Rmllw2llz, Jordan Jetson, T-Razor, Jalin Roze, Kogan Dumb & Dat Boi Dunn, among others. Dr. Dundiff told Louisville.com that some of his biggest influences are J-Dilla, Pete Rock & Samiyam. Though Dr. Dundiff states old school rap is another strong influence, he has explored less beat-driven samples in favor of creative soundscapes.

“I love to incorporate little bits of different genres to create a new piece of music.” Aprile’s appetite for samples knows no bounds, even opera isn’t off-limits. After making music separately in Louisville, Dr. Dundiff and emcee Touch A.C. (Touch Armor Class) teamed-up to produce the EP, Page of Cups, in May of 2015. Touch A.C.’s lyrical style is “part poetry, confession, and battle cry.” Touch A.C. on Bandcamp. There are themes of nostalgia, heartbreak, sarcasm and forgiveness embedded throughout the Page of Cups EP.

The Smoke Shop Kids are Louisville musicians Christian Hannah, Reid Gross, Sam Ellis, Parker Spurling, Patrick Denney and Roman Aprile. Primarily influenced by funk & hip-hop, the Smoke Shop Kids enlist the likes of trombone, alto sax, guitar, bass, keyboards and drums to produce their special blend of musical gumbo. Be prepared for a truly crunk set that gives the audience more than they bargained for.
